The fortress, which in some parts preserves the military functions, is of medieval origin, visible in its severe external structure dating from the fourteenth century, but has been repeatedly modernized inside, which now preserves beautiful Renaissance halls, richly furnished. By contrast, the cells were well preserved underground, where they were held captive nobles.
Inside you will find the museum of the Norwegian Armed Forces, and that of resistance Norwegian (Akershus was used by the Nazis as a command center employment durations in Norway). The entrance to the castle, taken in some places in Epcot in Florida, but then to visit some parts need to pay the entrance fee; a good idea is to take advantage of guided tours conducted by the university, which abound with stories and anecdotes neglected by the guides more "serious".
